Norway-Vulcan Music Department
Norway is home to a vibrant music department that focuses on developing independent musicians through engaging lessons, diverse music, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and plentiful informal and formal performances. Students are encouraged to think critically, be creative, and embrace growth mindset.
Norway offers their early kindergarten through fifth grade students one thirty minute period of general music a week. Sixth grade students all take beginning band so everyone has a taste of what it is like. Seventh and eighth grade students are provided the opportunity to be in either band, chorus, or both and meet on alternating days of the week. High school students are afforded the opportunity to be in band and chorus each of which meet five days a week. Outside of class students have access to ensembles such as vocal jazz and drumline which rehearse either before or after school on a weekly basis.
